What is a Cooling Tower System?
The term "Cooling Tower System" can be a complex issue when there is more than one cooling tower
on a particular site.
Land owners may have more than one cooling tower system on a site. Legislation requires all cooling
tower systems be registered.
The following questions and diagrams should assist you to complete the registration forms correctly.
Is there only one cooling tower on the site?
Yes. Then you have only one cooling tower system.
Do all of the cooling towers on the site share the same recirculating water?
Yes. Then you have only one system.
No. Then you have multiple systems.
Are there two or more cooling tower systems on the site?
Yes. A Part Two of the application form is required for each system. See Example 3 overleaf.
No. Only one Part Two of the application form must be completed. See Example 2 overleaf.

Do you have a multi cell cooling tower system?
Yes.Where multiple towers or 'cells' share a common basin of recirculating water it is regarded as only
one cooling tower. However, if each cooling tower has its own individual basin
then it counts as a unique cooling tower for the purposes of registration fee assessment.
