BS 4 vs BS 6 in automobiles

The  auto industry  is set to transition to the  BS6  regime in April 2020, in keeping with the Supreme Court’s diktat. This is not the first time that manufacturers have had to reconfigure their  engines  to meet  emission control norms . The Bharat Stage (BS) norms, which are based on  European emission standards , were initially rolled out in 2000. Subsequent iterations, BS2 and BS3, came into effect in 2001 and 2005 respectively. However, it wasn’t until  BS4  was implemented that emission levels were capped at levels comparable to global standards. In 2016, the government decided to skip BS5 in favour of devising a more stringent standard to check rising pollution from vehicular exhausts. After much deliberation and extensions, it was decided that the final deadline for the implementation of BS6 norms would be April 2020. How is BS6 different from BS4? The new emission standard will require both automobile manufacturers as well a...

Drones in Engineering: Innovative Technology

Drones in Engineering: Innovative Technology Drones can be used to take photographs for Areal Survey of Geological areas where Mineral Ores can  be found in different layers of Rocks.Pilotless planes like Drones can be used for preparing maps and guidelines for marking the mineral rich areas of India.National Resources of India include Mineral Ores and Rich Alluvial soils also.Alluvial and Black cotton soils very suitable for Agriculture. Some of Areas containing  these Soils produce different types of Crops two to three times a year.So Drones can be used for preparing a map of Areas where productivity of Crops are high. There are many places in villages And Forests which are not easy to Survey by Human Surveyers. Photogrammatic Surveys become too costly and cannot give sufficient information due to high speed of Aeroplanes and unclear sight of Cameras. So in these  type of cases Pilot-less Aero-models like Drones can be used. Another type of National Resources of India ...

Hot air behind your cold fridge? Why the future of cooling must be sustainable

Picture this: you live in a hot and humid climate, and you get access to energy. What’s the first thing you buy to stay cool? An air conditioner (AC). As incomes and standards of living increase around the world, so does the use of ACs. As a result, the global energy demand for ACs is  expected to triple by 2050 . However, people are buying units with average efficiencies of less than half of what is available on the market. To respond to the growing demand for cooling, we must, first and foremost, think energy efficiency. Cooling appliances such as ACs consume energy and emit heat while running. Anyone who has ever put their hand behind their fridge knows what I’m talking about. In turn, these heat gains add to air-conditioning demand. This dynamic, combined with the rising demand for cooling, drives up both power needs and CO2 emissions. Hence the need to think energy efficiency. Sustainable cooling solutions I am fiercely passionate about supporting the d...

VCI plastic bags

VCI Plastic Bags for safe packaging Safepack  VCI Plastic Bags  are designed for packaging cargo goods and products to ensure long life and protection from corrosion.   KEY FEATURES Best in class protection against moisture, oxygen transmission, corrosion, physical damage, odour transfer Corrosion is kept at bay by maintaining humidity level below 40 RH. Overall cost reduction by way of reduced desiccant/preservatives, packing case cost and rejections due to corrosion and spoilage of packed products   How do VCI Bags Work?   VCI bags , or Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor bags emits molecules that settle on metal surface result is a thin protection layer collect which is act as Corrosion Inhibitor. It protects by interrupting the electro-chemical corrosion process caused by moisture, oxygen and contaminants in the atmosphere.
